Top 12 Bay Area Engagement Locations

Choosing a portrait location for your engagement session in the Bay Area can be a tough decision. We’re very fortunate to live in a diverse place with a multitude of parks and preserved natural spaces in every direction; there are a ton of beaches, parks, forests, rugged coastlines, lakes, hills, meadows, and mountains to choose from which can make narrowing down your options a bit overwhelming.

Generally speaking, my advice for choosing an engagement location is to consider the following:

Favorite Moments of 2018 | Engagement Portraits + Weddings

It feels strange to look back on an entire year’s worth of work and choose a few favorites to highlight. Stunning Kauai Coast Engagement

Stunning Kauai Coast Engagement

Epic cliffs on the coast of Kauai? Yes, please! Some locations are truly breathtaking and Kauai certainly offers no shortage of stunning scenery. The coastline is especially dramatic, though some parts, like the Ka’napali Coast, can be challenging to access. E + R were in Kauai for their destination wedding (see post here) and we thought, “well, why not do some portraits since we’re here??” While scouting for their beach ceremony, I came across the Maha’ulepu Heritage Trail (a popular spot for cliff jumping!) and the petrified sand dunes along the trail. Needless to say, I was blown away by what I saw and couldn’t wait to photograph E + R with such an awesome background, and just a short walk from Shipwreck’s Beach where they were getting married! We started off in the jungle by Old Koloa Town and then headed to the cliffs for sunset. Being there at golden hour was a truly magical experience.
